EXPLORING THE MASTERS OF SPANISH & ITALIAN ART: FROM MADRID TO FLORENCE

October 12th - 18th, 2017

Per person cost for six-day Program

PRELIMINARY ITINERARY

Thursday, October 12th

Arrive at The Westin Palace Hotel in Madrid.

6PM - Welcome session at the Palace Hotel, including introductory lecture by Professor Bill Wallace and Dr. Bill Cook.

Welcome cocktail in the hotel.

Dinner at the historic restaurant, El Lando.

‬Friday, October 13th

8:30AM - Gather in the lobby.

Departure – to the Prado Museum (we will walk the short distance).

9AM – Private early entry to the Prado Museum (Prado opens to the public at 10AM).

Visit the Restoration Laboratory of the Prado, arranged through the American Friends of the Prado Museum.

Lunch at the Madrileno Cervezeria Alemagna.

Afternoon visit to other sites in the city.

Cocktails in a typical Madrileno bar.

Dinner in the oldest restaurant in Europe, Casa Botin, dating from 1725.

Saturday, October 14th

Morning departure to Toledo to view the Acazar Fortress, the Cathedral of

Saint Mary, the Church of Saint Tomè, and several other sites.

Luncheon.

Dinner in a private venue.

Sunday, October 15th

Visit to the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofia Museum.

Dinner in a private venue.

Monday, October 16th

Depart Madrid; travel to Florence by air.

Check in to Westin Excelsior Hotel, Florence.

Private visit to the Uffizi Gallery for further exploration of the Spanish and Italian Masters.

Dinner in a private palace.

Tuesday, October 17th

Morning visit to the Pitti Gallery, the Church of Santo Spirito, and other sites.

Luncheon.

Farewell dinner in a private palace in Florence.

Wednesday, October 18th

Departures from Florence.
